Business was really fun back in the "good old days". Back then, anyone could open a car lot and make money. Those were great days! The car business today presents a real challenge to stay current with technology. The internet has became an essential tool for the modern day car dealer. Buyers will find your vehicles through search - and if you are well presented online to build their trust - will buy from you in another state. Internet sales are easier than walk-ins! International car sales are also booming! Cash in on the export business - send vehicles overseas! It's as easy as making your best deal - fax or email attach the paperwork to buyer - buyer wires the money directly into your bank account - buyer arranges exportation and vehicle delivery to port - you give the title and bill of sale to shipper. Another one over the curb! I am always available to my clients for tips and advise. I get several calls each week from prospective buyers who find the demo vehicles on this website through search. Even though the stock numbers say DEMO-etc, and the website says they are for demonstration purposes only, people still call and send emails wanting more info. Imagine what YOU can do with vehicles that ARE For Sale!
Don't pay more elsewhere for less! I see so many sites that are incompatible with web browsers such as older versions of AOL, Web TV, Opera, (Mozilla Firefox, an average of 17% traffic comes from this browser alone) One site I looked at, when clicking on the view inventory link did absolutely nothing, I had to go back with Internet Explorer to view their inventory - that is a serious problem with site design. It is also very important to have the proper hidden headers with associated meta tags!
It's all about how you are presented online - and especially how your site is constructed so buyers can find you!
Is your dealership located on a busy highway? I recently spent a month in a small Oregon town, and coming from the bustle of city life, it was interesting how far we had to drive just to go grocery shopping, etc. I noticed so many small lots on busy highways. But one really stood out from the rest. It was really well presented, and had a nice assortment of pre-owned vehicles. BUT - only the dealership's name was on the sign. As we passed by, I thought about that nice red Cadillac in the front, and a couple of other great cars that caught my eye, but we didn't have time to stop in.
I wondered why they didn't have a big sign that told passerby's "DON'T HAVE TIME TO STOP IN? SHOP US ONLINE @ WWW.OURDEALERSHIP.COM" All that traffic coming from the coast and back again with no visible web advertising. They were missing out on a lot of sales! How many prospective buyers pass by your dealership each day? You would be surprised how many are stuck in traffic during their rush hour drive to and from their work and home. On the way to work they spot a car in your inventory and are curious how much it is and how many miles etc. They remember your "www" name that you conveniently put up in plain view to take advantage of that traffic, and they look you up from work or home. They can look at the description of the vehicle and see the photos, and then either call or send you an email! A member of your staff acts immediately, and makes an appointment to meet with them at their convenience. And another unit one over the curb!! Do you advertise in local newspapers and print magazines? Be sure to put "see our website for photos www.yourlot.com" or just yourlot.com if space is limited. By doing this - you will get the sale before others without a website. Buyers like to look at the car online before driving over to see it. Your website is the best advertising tool for the small investment you put into it. Put it on all your company stationary, forms, business cards, return address on envelopes, etc, etc, etc. People are curious by nature - and will look you up to see what you have to offer - even if they are not ready to buy yet, they will add you to their favorites and come back when they are ready to buy. Even if you have little or no computer knowledge don't worry, I will train you how to work this program - set up your email accounts - and especially how to take good photos!
